Favored stablemates run one-two in Breeders' Special

LINCOLN, Neb. - Bach's Homebrew registered his second straight stakes win with a hard-earned three-quarter-length victory over his entrymate, Bingosablumin, in the $20,600 Lincoln Breeders' Special at Lincoln Race Course on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by Larry Staroscik for Don Everett's Bluestem Farm, Bach's Homebrew and Bingosablumin had the show to themselves through the closing three furlongs of the one- mile race. Bingosablumin was on the pace from the start under Chris Fackler while Bach's Homebrew, with Armando Martinez aboard, ranged up easily to his partner going to the final turn. Bingosablumin continued on a clear lead into the stretch then grudgingly yielded to the winner in the closing sixteenth of a mile to settle for second. It was another 8 3/4 lengths back to Brand Forty Four in third.

The coupled entry returned $3.60, $3.80, and $3.40 across the board as the 4-5 favorite in the field of six Nebraska-bred 3-year-olds. Bach's Homebrew covered the distance in 1:43 over muddy going. He previously had won the Journal Star Stakes here at six furlongs by a widening eight lengths. Bach's Homebrew has now won 4 of 7 starts and slightly more than $40,000.
