Fass Feat wire to wire at Delta


Fass Feat remained undefeated in four career starts on Friday night, when he led throughout for a three-quarter-length win in the $75,000 Bayou State at Delta Downs. Apprentice Joe Talamo was aboard for the win, and with the victory completed a sweep of the two stakes on the card. Talamo also guided Queezee Deezee to a head win in the $75,000 Azalea.

Fass Feat ($4.60) set the pace in the Bayou State, leading the field through fractions of 23.75 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.08 for the half-mile mark, and 1:13.38 for six furlongs. He went on to cover the seven furlongs, run around two turns, in 1:26.63.

Emile Schwandt trains Fass Feat for P & L Racing. The Bayou State was restricted to Louisiana-breds who had never won a stakes.

Queezee Deezee ($9) rallied to win the Azalea over Southern Banner, who was disqualified from second for interference and placed fifth. The action moved Tsarina to second in the Azalea, a seven-furlong race restricted to Louisiana-bred fillies and mares who had never won a stakes. Queezee Deezee covered the distance in 1:27.92.
