Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling catalog now online
The catalog for the 93rd Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale is now online, featuring a smaller catalog of 152 offerings.
The two-day sale will be held at the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on August 5-6, beginning each evening at 7 p.m. Eastern. Print editions of the catalog will be available at all Fasig-Tipton offices by July 1.
The upcoming catalog is 20 percent smaller than last year’s edition of the Saratoga sale, where 189 horses were included in the book.
“This year’s Saratoga catalog once again boasts tremendous quality,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning Jr. “Buyers will find a group of yearlings with worldwide sire power, depth of pedigree, as well as the excellent physical conformation traditionally found at Saratoga.”
Last year’s sale posted declines across the board, as 107 yearlings sold for a combined $32 million, down three percent from the previous year. The average sale price of $299,065 was a six percent decrease, while the median fell 10 percent to $225,000.
The highest-priced offering of last year’s sale was a Medaglia d’Oro filly out of champion Wait a While, who sold to trainer Todd Pletcher, as agent, for $1,575,000. The filly was consigned by Three Chimneys Sales, as agent for Arindel Farm.
