Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred yearling sale catalog now available
The catalog for the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred yearling sale is now available online, with a larger roster of 299 horses.
The two-day sale will be held August 10-11 at the Humphrey S. Finney Sale Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., with each session beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern. Print catalogs will be available at all Fasig-Tipton offices by July 8.
“We have an excellent group of yearlings to present at this year’s New York-bred sale,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning Jr. “The overall quality is the best we have ever offered in this sale, reflecting the tremendous racing opportunities available for New York-breds. Prospective buyers will find a group of most attractive and athletic yearlings with outstanding sires represented from both within and outside New York.”
The catalog for this year’s edition is 15 percent larger than last year’s book, which featured 260 hips.
The 2012 New York-bred sale posted impressive gains, with 138 horses sold for receipts of $8,632,000, up 28 percent compared with the previous year. The average sale price spiked 15 percent to $62,551, while the median rose 43 percent to $50,000.
The highest-priced horse of last year’s sale was a Tapit colt out of the Grade 3- winning Cozzene mare Derrianne, who was secured by Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm for $330,000.
