Fasig-Tipton Saratoga fall mixed sale catalogs 254

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 254 horses for its inaugural Saratoga fall mixed sale in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The auction will take place in the Humphrey S. Finney pavilion on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m.

Catalogs are online now at www.fasigtipton.com. Hard copies are available at Fasig-Tipton offices and at the New York Thoroughbred Breeders office in Saratoga.

“The feedback we were getting through the early summer was that the significant funding strides made to the New York-bred program had created a need for this sale,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said. “After discussions with New York’s major commercial breeders and with Jeff Cannizzo, executive director of the NYTB, we found an ideal time slot in October to add this sale to the calendar.”

Fasig-Tipton’s New York-bred auction last month realized big gains largely attributed to New York’s slots-enriched purses. The auction tallied a 15 percent increase in average price and a 43 percent jump in median, as gross climbed 28 percent. The two-night auction sold 138 horses for $8,632,000, for a $62,551 average and a $50,000 median, though buybacks were high at 38 percent.
