Fasig-Tipton sale: Eden's Moon brings $1.5 million

Grade 1 winner Eden's Moon was sold for$1,525,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall mixed sale on Monday evening, being purchased by Mandore International Agency. The French-based agency of Nicolas de Watrigant continued a strong evening for foreign buyers at the sale, after Japanese interests purchased two seven-figure mares.

Eden's Moon, a 3-year-old Malibu Moon filly, was offered as a racing or broodmare prospect by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency. She is the winner of this year's Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes and Grade 2 San Clemente Handicap.

"She's an ultimate performer," said John Sikura of Hill 'n' Dale. "She's a Grade 1 winner from a top-class international pedigree. She's a big, long, beautiful filly with a world of class and a premium race filly with a premier pedigree. She's special."

Eden's Moon is the first foal to race out of the winning Giant's Causeway mare Eden's Causeway, whose dam, North of Eden, is a half-sister to champion Theatrical. Eden's Causeway is a half-sister to champion Paradise Creek, Grade 1 winners Forbidden Apple and Wild Event, and Paradise River, dam of Group 1 winner David Junior.
