Fasig-Tipton releases Midlantic yearling sale catalog

Email

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 387 yearlings for its Midlantic fall yearling sale, to be held Sept. 30 at Timonium, Md. The single-session sale begins at 10 a.m. Eastern.

This year’s catalog is 3 percent larger than the catalog for the 2012 auction. The catalog is available online at www.fasigtipton.com, and print copies are available in all Fasig-Tipton offices.

“We draw a wide range of owners and trainers to Timonium, as well as enjoying strong support from the pinhooking community, so it is pleasing to see an equal diversity in our consignors and sires,” sales director Paget Bennett said. “We have 157 stallions represented in the sale and consignors from seven different states.  Our graduates have been performing well on the racetracks and in the 2-year-old markets.  We are looking forward to an active and positive market.”

Last year’s Midlantic sale grossed $6,166,100 for 276 yearlings sold, marking a less than 1 percent increase from 2011 but with 56 fewer horses sold. The average of $22,341 jumped 21 percent, and the $12,000 median climbed 30 percent.

Recent graduates of the Midlantic sale include Dancing Afleet (2011), winner of this year’s Grade 2 Delaware Oaks. She is featured on the cover of this year’s catalog.
