Fasig-Tipton releases Midlantic 2-year-old sale catalog

A total of 425 horses have been cataloged for the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale, scheduled for May 20-21 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md.

The two-day sale will commence each day at 10 a.m. Eastern, while the pre-sale under-tack shows will be held on May 15-16, also beginning at 10 a.m.

The number of horses cataloged is 21 percent smaller than last year’s book of 540 juveniles. The 2012 sale produced total revenues of $16,721,000 from 312 horses sold, up 3 percent compared with the 2011 sale. The average sale price rose 13 percent to $53,593, while the median price of $28,000 was a 12 percent improvement.

The highest priced horse of the 2012 Midlantic sale was Magic Daddy, who was purchased by Mercedes Stables for $575,000. The Scat Daddy colt, out of the Congaree mare Magical Mist, was consigned by Kings Equine, agent. Last year’s auction also produced Kentucky Derby contender Vyjack (sold for $100,000) and graded stakes winner Rydilluc (sold for $150,000).

The catalog for the 2013 sale is currently available online, and physical copies will be available at all Fasig-Tipton offices on April 19.
