A total of 136 horses have been cataloged for this year’s Fasig-Tipton Florida sale of selected 2-year-olds in training, to be held on Monday, March 25, at Palm Meadows Training Center in Boynton Beach, Fla., beginning at noon, Eastern.
The under-tack show for the one-day sale will be held Friday, March 22, beginning at 9 a.m. The catalog is currently available on the Fasig-Tipton website and via the Equineline Sales Catalog application. Print catalogs will be mailed Monday, Feb. 18.
“For more than thirty years, The Florida Sale has showcased an elite group of 2-year-olds to the sport’s leading buyers, and that tradition continues,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning Jr. “We have a tremendous group of 2-year-olds headed to South Florida again this year with sire power, pedigree, and the looks to match.”
The catalog is 19 percent smaller than last year’s Florida sale, which included 167 horses in its book.
Last year’s sale was topped by a Big Brown colt, now racing under the name Darwin, who sold to the Coolmore partnership’s bloodstock adviser Demi O’Byrne for $1.3-million, which was the highest price for a 2-year-old at a North American auction in 2012.
