Fasig-Tipton Midlantic: Two top second day of breeze show

A pair of colts tied for the overall fastest furlong of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale under-tack show on Thursday, covering the distance in 10 seconds flat during the second and final day of breezes.

The colts turned in their works at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md., where the sale will be held May 19-20, beginning at 10 a.m. Eastern each day.

Kowboy Nowboy is a Kodiak Kowboy colt out of the Grade 3-placed Demaloot Demashoot mare Leading Role, who is the dam of three winners from as many foals to race. Bred in Kentucky by Jeanne Bruce, Kowboy Nowboy is from the family of Grade 1-placed Facts of Love and stakes-winning second dam Support the Arts. He is consigned by Crane Thoroughbreds, agent.

Shining Steel is an Exclusive Quality colt out of the winning Capote mare Miss Cap, who has produced four winners from five foals to race. His page also includes Grade 3 winner Tank and Grade 3 winner Deputy Miss. Shining Steel was bred in Florida by Peter Eslick and is also consigned as agent by Crane Thoroughbreds.

Thursday’s breeze show also produced the fastest overall time at two furlongs when a Desert Party colt completed the quarter mile in 21 1/5 seconds.

The colt is out of the winning Olympio mare Satinet, whose eight winners from 10 foals to race includes stakes winners Britt’s Jules and Probation Ready, Grade 1-placed Social Probation and stakes-placed Dirty Rush. Bred in Kentucky by Chris and Kirt Cahill, the colt is from the family of Grade 1 winners Rose’s Cantina and Fancy Naskra, as well as Grade 1-placed Putthebabiesdown and Grade 2-placed stakes winner Rush Now. He is consigned as agent by Eddie Woods.
