Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale: Half-sister to Unbridled Command brings $100,000
By Joe Nevills
Email
A weanling half-sister to recent Grade 1 winner Unbridled Command became the first offering to break the six-figure mark Monday at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December mixed sale. McMahon and Hill Bloodstock, agents for Edition Farm, purchased the Read the Footnotes filly for $100,000.
The gray or roan filly is out of the unraced Unbridled’s Song mare Unbridled Betty, who has produced four winners from five to race. Her most successful offspring, Unbridled Command, won the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby on Nov. 25 and won the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes and a listed stakes earlier this year.
Bred in New York by Rhapsody Farm and Jon Davis, the weanling filly is from the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Manistique. She was consigned by Rhapsody Farm and Hidden Lake Farm, agents.
The weanling is the second-highest-priced foal out of Unbridled Betty to sell at public auction. Spring Beauty, a Consolidator filly, brought $130,000 at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky selected yearling sale. Earlier this year, her yearling colt by Freud dropped the hammer at $82,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred preferred sale.
