Fasig-Tipton Midlantic: Harlan's Holiday colt zips a furlong in 10 seconds

A pair of horses joined the list of the fastest workers at an eighth and a quarter of a mile on Wednesday during the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training presale under-tack show.

Both co-fastest times came during Wednesday’s first set of workers over the Maryland State Fairgrounds surface.

Hip 371, a Harlan's Holiday colt out of the unraced Awesome Again mare Awesome Maneuver, became the third horse of the under-tack show to cover one furlong in 10 seconds flat. The dam’s first foal to race is unplaced in England.

The second dam is multiple Grade 1 winner Strategic Maneuver, who is the pivot point for runners including Grade 2 winner Cat Fighter and Grade 3 winners Ishiguru and Shumoos. Casse Sales consigns the colt as agent for Small Batch Thoroughbreds.

Hip 310, a first-crop Mission Impazible colt, joined the four horses on Tuesday to breeze two furlongs in 21 3/5 seconds.

The New York-bred is the first foal out of the stakes-placed Closing Argument mare Voodoo's Argument. His extended family includes Grade 1 winners Videogenic and Valid Video and Grade 2 winner Ziggy's Boy. Blue River Bloodstock consigns the colt as agent.

The under-tack show concludes Thursday, beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern. The auction will take place May 23-24, with a 10 a.m. start time.
