Email

A filly by Big Brown breezed a furlong in 10 seconds flat to lead the first session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale’s under-tack preview show Wednesday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md.

The Big Brown filly, named Adore, is consigned by Sweetbriar Sales, as agent. The May foal is out of the unraced Empire Maker mare Cozshesaidso, dam of two winners from as many starters. Cozshesaidso is a half-sister to four stakes-placed winners, including Grade 3-placed Stoci, dam of the Peruvian champion Ole Pegasus. It is the extended family of Boundary, the sire of Big Brown.

An Unbridled’s Song colt named Unbridled Critic turned in the session’s fastest quarter, breezing in 21.40. The colt, consigned by Crane Thoroughbreds, as agent, is the first foal out of the unraced Smart Strike mare Critic’s Choice, who is out of Grade 1 winner Starrer. The latter, in turn, is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Stellar Jayne and to Topliner, the dam of the Grade 1 winner Star Billing.

A Twirling Candy filly turned in the session’s fastest three-furlong clocking, going in 34.40, while a Blame filly worked a half in 48.80 as the only juvenile in the session to go that distance. Both are consigned by Kirkwood Stables, as agent.

The second and final session of the under-tack show will be Thursday, with the sale set for Monday and Tuesday.
