Fasig-Tipton Kentucky winter mixed sale catalogs 534 horses

The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky winter mixed sale will continue a two-day format in 2015, with a catalog of 534 entries.

The sale will be held Feb. 8 and 9 at Fasig-Tipton’s Newtown Paddocks headquarters in Lexington, Ky. This year’s renewal had originally been scheduled for a single session, on Feb. 9.

The opening session, which will offer hips 1-200, will begin at 3 p.m. Eastern, while the second session, featuring hips 201-534 and the supplemental catalog will begin at 10 a.m.

“The success and growth of the February sale in recent years has once again generated strong participation from our consignors,” said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning.  “Buyers of all budgets will find increased quality among the in-foal mares, and racing and broodmare prospects.  A large contingent of newly-turned yearlings should draw significant interest, as well.”

The catalog is nine percent smaller than the 2014 renewal, which featured 588 entries. However, last year’s sale was anchored by the high-profile dispersal of Eugene Melynyk’s Winding Oaks Farm, which boosted the number of entries.

Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept selected entries on an approval basis over the next few weeks.

The Kentucky mixed sale will be available in print and online via the auction company’s website and the Equineline Sales Catalogue app by Monday, Jan. 19.
