Fasig-Tipton July sale: Harlan’s Holiday represented by pair of standouts

Email

Harlan’s Holiday enjoyed a solid run on Monday afternoon at the Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale in Lexington, as he was represented by a pair of six-figure yearlings in quick succession, including a $270,000 filly purchased by Ernie D. Semersky.

The filly, who was consigned by Select Sales, agent, is out of the stakes-winning Seneca Jones mare Rockin’ Kate, the dam of two winners from as many starters. Out of the stakes-winning Taylor’s Falls mare Traceys Rock, Rockin’ Kate is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including multiple stakes producer Royal Roundabout.

Shortly after the filly left the ring, Ken McPeek, as agent, signed the ticket on a $160,000 Harlan’s Holiday colt consigned by Dromoland Farm, as agent.

The colt is out of the stakes-winning Monarchos mare Round Trip Flight, who has not yet produced a starter. Her dam, stakes-placed Double Flyight, is a half sister to stakes winner Blonde Fever, a multiple stakes producer whose runners include Grade 2 winner Feverish.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Harlan’s Holiday, who stands at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., set a record for single-season earnings by a juvenile sire last year. His 38 stakes winners include last year’s champion 2-year-old male Shanghai Bobby, Grade 1 winner and successful second-crop sire Into Mischief, and Grade 1 winner Majesticperfection. His standouts on the track this season include Notacatbutallama, who scored his second straight stakes win on the Belmont Park turf Saturday in the Solar Splendor Stakes.
