Fasig-Tipton Florida: Coolmore picks up Pioneerof the Nile colt

After siring the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, Pioneerof the Nile has seen his commercial popularity spike, as evidenced by a $1 million colt by the stallion sold to Coolmore Stud on Wednesday evening at the Fasig-Tipton Florida sale of 2-year-olds in training.

Coolmore, of course, stands Triple Crown winner American Pharoah at its Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky. Pioneerof the Nile stands at nearby WinStar Farm for an advertised fee of $125,000 in 2016, more than double his 2015 fee.

The million-dollar colt, consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds, as agent, breezed a furlong in :10 1/5 seconds during Monday's pre-sale under-tack show at Gulfstream. He is out of the Mr. Greeley mare Faith In Me, dam of one winner from a pair of starters. Faith In Me, a half-sister to a pair of stakes-placed winners, is from the extended family of Grade 1 winner Chaposa Springs, as well as Grade 1 winner and prominent sire You and I.
