Fantasy one-two finishers headed to Ky. Oaks

Blind Luck and Tidal Pool, who finished one-two in the Grade 2, $300,000 Fantasy here last Friday, are both headed next to the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on April 30. Blind Luck flew back to her California base on Monday. She dominated her rivals, winning by 2 1/2 lengths and earning a career-best Beyer Figure of 104.

"She came out of the race real nice," said Jerry Hollendorfer, who co-owns and trains Blind Luck.

Tidal Pool, who won an allowance here with a Beyer of 103 in February, set a controlled pace early in the Fantasy then quickened through a mile in 1:36.53. She was then overtaken by Blind Luck, who won the 1 1/16-mile stakes in 1:42.56.

D. Wayne Lukas trains Tidal Pool, and was pleased with her effort in the Fantasy. He also expressed respect for Blind Luck, who is a multiple Grade 1 winner.

"Blind Luck, really, we had her at our mercy and we couldn't put her away," Lukas said. "But Blind Luck has a lot more seasoning and experience, and so maybe on Round 2 we can get closer."

Tidal Pool earned a Beyer of 100 for her Fantasy performance.

No Such Word, who was third in the Fantasy, will not go to the Kentucky Oaks, said her trainer, Cindy Jones.

* Be Fair worked a bullet half-mile in 47.60 seconds on Monday in preparation for Friday's Grade 1 Apple Blossom. Lukas said Calvin Borel has the mount.
