Fantastic Light has received the Cartier Award as European Horse of the Year.

Fantastic Light, winner of the Breeders' Cup Turf, the Prince of Wales's Stakes, and the Irish Champion Stakes, was also named best older horse in Europe by a narrow margin over his Godolphin stablemate, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sakhee.

Other Cartier Awards, determined by a combination of pattern race performances, the vote of selected British racing journalists, and the vote of readers of Britain's Daily Telegraph, went to Johannesburg (2-year-old colt), Queen's Logic (2-year-old filly), Galileo (3-year-old colt), Banks Hill (3-year-old filly), Mozart (sprinter), and Persian Punch (stayer).

John Magnier, the owner of Coolmore Stud and co-owner with Michael Tabor of Johannesburg, Galileo, and Mozart, was named winner of the Daily Telegraph Award of Merit.

The official European champions will be named by the International Classification Committee in January.
