Family Favorite makes trip from Florida

Family Favorite invades from Florida for Friday night's $40,000 Delta Belle at Delta Downs in Vinton, La.

The five-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies drew a field of six, and there does not appear to be a standout among them. Favoritism Could go to maiden winner My Golden Tripp, who will be making her first start for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Family Favorite arrives from Calder Race Course, where she has faced Chatter Chatter in her last two starts. Chatter Chatter has won three consecutive races by a combined margin of 44 lengths. Family Favorite finished fifth to Chatter Chatter in the $400,000 My Dear Girl in her last start. Chatter Chatter won that 1 1/16-mile race, part of the Florida Stallion Stakes series, by 19 1/2 lengths.

Family Favorite will be cutting back to one turn Friday, and the move should suit her, as her maiden win came at five furlongs. She is also stakes placed at six furlongs. Marlon St. Julien has the mount for owner-breeder Francis McDonnell and trainer George Handy.

My Golden Tripp wired a field of maiden claimers on turf in her last start. Before that she finished a close third in a maiden claimer on the main track. Steve Bourque has the mount Friday.

Others of note include Simply Jolie, who has won 2 of 3 starts, including a 6 1/2-furlong romp in a conditioned allowance at Delta.
