Familiar Michigan-bred rivals meet

Valley Loot, second as the odds-on favorite in last month's Moonbeam Handicap, will carry top weight of 121 pounds when she is rematched with Half a Glance in the $50,000 Farer Belle Lee Handicap at Pinnacle Race Course.

The 1 1/16-mile feature drew a field of six Michigan-bred fillies and mares, and goes as race 8 on a nine-race card.

Valley Loot, who won the Larkspur Handicap on July 26, will have to spot from three to 10 pounds to her rivals. A past state champion, with a record on 9-2-3 from 15 starts, Valley Loot was overtaken late by Half a Glance in her last start, beaten two lengths.

Mike Allen will again ride Valley Loot, who is owned by Pinnacle CEO Felicia Campbell and trained by Ronnie Allen.

Half a Glance, who gets in at 118 pounds, rallied five wide to capture the Moonbeam for the second straight year. Mary Doser retains the mount for trainer Scott Sowle.

Nell's Enjoyment, third in the Moonbeam, is one of two starters from the barn of owner-trainer-breeder Shane Spiess. Spiess will also saddle Let's Get Creative, who was fifth that day.

Silent Sunset, who won the Farer Belle Lee last year for trainer Joe Lewis and his wife, Diane, will be looking for her first win since then. She was fourth in the Moonbeam.

Ki's of the Heart, the only horse in the Farer Belle Lee who did not run in the Moonbeam, has a second and a third in allowance company at the meet.
