Familiar faces in feature

PORTLAND, Ore. - Stately Jack, Flash, and Yada Yada Yada, the second- and third-place finishers in the rich Oregon Futurity on Dec. 14, will clash for the third time in their brief careers in Saturday's six-furlong allowance feature at Portland Meadows.

Yada Yada Yada upset the heavily favored Stately Jack Flash in their first meeting, winning the six-furlong Bill Wineberg Stakes at 20-1 in his career debut. Yada Yada Yada then skipped the six-furlong Columbia River Handicap on

Dec. 1, when Stately Jack Flash surprised Washington-bred standout Knightsbridge Road in a half-length win.

That set up a rematch between the two juveniles in the one-mile Oregon Futurity, but Glad to be Here stole the show, winning by a little more than a length over Stately Jack Flash. Yada Yada Yada finished a neck back in third.

Stately Jack Flash and Yada Yada Yada aren't the only stakes winners in Saturday's field of five. Questionable Road returns following a win in the six-furlong OTBA Stallion Stakes just one week ago. The win served as a homecoming party for returning rider Gary Baze, who will again have the mount on the Jim Fergason-trained Questionable Road.

Rounding out the compact field are Cee Cruiser and Lacenter Flash, neither of whom can be dismissed. Cee Cruiser comes off an impressive 5 1/2-length win over maiden special weight company on Dec. 14, while Lacenter Flash bested $10,000 claiming maidens by 8 1/2 lengths on Dec. 22.

The featured allowance for 3-year-olds will go as the eighth of 10 live races on Saturday. First post is 1 p.m.
