Fallon hurt in paddock accident

Jockey Kieren Fallon has severe bruising but no broken bones after a paddock accident Friday at England's Newbury Racecourse.

The 45-year-old Fallon was kicked in the right thigh by his mount, Ayam Zainah, who had been spooked by a loose horse running past her.

Following the incident, screens were set up around the still-conscious Fallon as he lay motionless on the ground at the Berkshire track, 60 miles west of London. After an examination in the track's medical center, he was sent by ambulance to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where X-rays proved negative.

No time frame has been decided concerning Fallon's return to racing.

The champion rider in Britain six times, Fallon had returned to riding in September after a series of drug suspensions and accusations of fixed races - from which he was exonerated - had kept him out of action for a year and a half. He appeared to be back in top form this spring, winning the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday aboard Music Show, second favorite for the 1000 Guineas.
