Jockey Jansen Melancon has moved his tack to Fair Grounds in New Orleans, said his father, veteran rider Gerard Melancon. Jansen, 24, and his father, 45, have both been competing at Delta. Gerard Melancon said his son’s last full card at Delta was Saturday.
“He’s hoping for a big horse,” Gerard Melancon said.
Jansen is 11th in the Delta standings. He will be represented at Fair Grounds by agent Jerry Reites, said Gerard Melancon.
Jansen was last based at Fair Grounds as an apprentice rider. He launched his career in 2007 and is a winner of 354 races. Gerard is on the countdown to 4,000 wins, with 3,946 through Tuesday.

Oaks winner Beholder returned to finish second in the Kentucky Oaks; Oaks third Fiftyshadesofhay was one of the favorites Friday in the Black Eyed Susan at Pimlico. The point is, IOTAPA faced a good bunch last out. She specifically targeted this race, gets pace to run at, loves the track, and can mow them down as the favorite. She must catch two good front-runners.
