Eye N Capo wins second straight with Dash for Cash triumph


Eye N Capo remained undefeated in two starts when he proved a length best in Saturday night’s Grade 2, $384,615 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park. Duponte finished second in the race, which was one of three stakes on the card for Quarter Horses.

Eye N Capo set the fastest qualifying time for the 400-yard Dash For Cash on Sept. 24. In the finale, he broke on top from the rail and never looked back, covering the distance on a track rated fast in 19.51 seconds. Damien Martinez was aboard Eye N Capo, who paid $5.

Trainer Brian Stroud swept the other two stakes on the card, taking the Grade 3, $235,600 Dash For Cash Derby with Tellereyematthebar ($41.40) and the $42,735 Dash For Cash Juvenile with Desdemona Rambler ($12.20).

Tellereyematthebar rallied for a head win over favorite and fastest qualifier Politically Corrupt, who was seeking to win his fourth straight race. He covered 440 yards in 21.65 seconds. Cesar Gomez was aboard Tellereyematthebar for James Hrabovsky and Joye Nalls.

Desdemona Rambler also was a head winner in the Juvenile.
