Email

Explosive Mine, the most impressive qualifier for Saturday's $205,000 Copper Top Futurity in the March 31 trials at Sunland Park in winning by more than 11 lengths, turned in another impressive performance in the final to run his record to a perfect 2 for 2. Marquee Avenue finished 1 1/2 lengths back in second, followed by Hollywood Showbiz and Quickly.

Trained by Michael Welch, Explosive Mine ($5) stalked the early pace under Alejandro Medellin before taking command in the final furlong. The son of Ghostly Moves covered the 4 1/2 furlongs in 51.55 seconds and picked up just over $102,500 for his winning connections.
