Experience points out two in Timber Music

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The $50,000 Timber Music Stakes on Saturday at Hastings drew six 2-year-old fillies, and Archery and Alpine Lass are the only two who have started. The 6 1/2-furlong feature goes as the seventh race.

Trained by Dino Condilenios, Archery ran a creditable third in a very tough 3 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race May 6. The winner, Dancing Allstar, came back to win the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine by more than six lengths. The second-place finisher, Laurel's Gold, won a $25,000 maiden race by four lengths here May 19 in his next start.

Condilenios has been pointing Archery to the Timber Music since her good debut. "I've liked her from day one," said Condilenios. "Plus, this is kind of like a maiden race with a $50,000 purse."

Dave Wilson will ride Archery.

Alpine Lass, who is trained by Toni Cloutier, is the only winner in the race. She finished second to Vic's Pick in her debut going 3 1/2 furlongs and then won a maiden special weight race as the 4-5 favorite July 2.

"It would be a lot better for her if the race was at least one week later," Cloutier said. "But she galloped out strongly in her race two weeks ago so she should be fit enough."

Trainer Dave Forster has entered first-time starter Dancing Melody, who is by an excellent debut sire, Out of Place. She looked very sharp working four furlongs in 46.80 seconds Thursday morning.
