Exclusive Eagle upsets Muckleshoot

EmailExclusive Eagle battled back after surrendering the lead on the far turn to post a $19.20 upset in the $50,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic on Sunday at Emerald Downs.

Exclusive Eagle inherited the lead when the pacesetting Reno Ringo went wrong on the backside in the 1 1/16-mile Muckleshoot Tribal Classic. He yielded to Norm's Nephew coming to the quarter pole, but came back on under rider Gallyn Mitchell to score by three-quarters of a length in 1:41.80. Norm's Nephew held second.

* Six other stakes for Washington-breds were contested on the card. No Constraints ($3.60) was a handy winner in the $45,000 Diane Kem for 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs; Firetrail ($2.80) came from just off the pace to win the one-mile, $45,000 John and Kitty Fletcher for 3-year-old fillies; Margo's Gift ($5.60) won the six-furlong, $45,000 Captain Condo for 2-year-olds; Chickasaw Park ($4) won the six-furlong, $45,000 Chinook Pass Sprint; Mulcahy ($4.60) scored in the one-mile, $45,000 Trooper Seven Stakes for 3-year-olds; and trainer Doris Harwood posted a record 11th stakes win at the meeting with Hit a Star ($23.40) in the 1 1/16-mile Belle Roberts for fillies and mares.
