Group 1 winner and first-year Coolmore stallion Excelebration will shuttle to Coolmore's Australia operation for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

Excelebration, a multiple Group 1 winner, will shuttle from Coolmore’s Irish base to its Australian operation in Jerry’s Plains, New South Wales, for the 2013 Southern Hemisphere season.

The 5-year-old son of Exceed and Excel is currently standing his first season at stud in Ireland after retiring in 2012 with eight wins from 15 starts for earnings of $2,663,259. His marquee victories came in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes in England and the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard-Jaques le Marois in France, both in 2012. He picked up another French Group 1 win in 2011, winning the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.

Excelebration finished fourth in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita in his final career start.

“Excelebration is a very good-looking multiple Grade 1 winning miler from the Danehill line so we are delighted that he will be coming down to us,” said Coolmore manager Michael Kirwan. “I’ve seen him in the flesh myself and he’s a very good looking horse; big and strong with great quality and a lovely head. All the best breeders in Europe have supported him and I have no doubt that he will prove equally popular here in Australia.”

Excelebration is out of the Indian Ridge mare Sun Shower, who has produced three winners from two to race. He is a half-brother to English Group 3 winner Mull of Killough.

A stud fee will be announced for Excelebration’s Southern Hemisphere season at a later date.
