Ex Caelis has ankle surgery

Email

Ex Caelis, who finished fourth in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies, recently underwent ankle surgery in Lexington, Ky., and will not return to training until after the first of the year.

The filly's Fairmount Park-based owner, Jeff Cooper, said that Ex Caelis had failed to switch leads in the Juvenile Fillies "because she had a big chip in her right ankle."

"She'll be shelved for 60 days and then be back in training around the first of the year," Cooper said.
