Evangeline track report

LAFAYETTE, La. - Shane Sellers, who still shares the record of six wins on a single Evangeline Downs program, returned to his old stomping grounds last Friday night. Sellers was in town to help raise money for an Erath, La., high school college scholarship program and was joined by his wife, two children, and 30 friends for dinner and a night of racing in the clubhouse.

Sellers joined track announcer Sean Beirne for the pre-race show and then signed autographs from

7-8 p.m. After visiting with many friends, Sellers and his family presented the trophy to the winning connections following the night's featured eight race.

- The $75,000 Evangeline Mile, this meet's top event in the handicap division, may draw both Walk in the Snow and Bonapaw.

Walk in the Snow made a successful comeback at Louisiana Downs July 5, and trainer Herman Taylor said that he will choose between the Shiskabob on turf at Louisiana Downs Aug. 9 or the Mile a week later.

Bonapaw's connections also recently said the Mile is a possibility.
