Email

OPELOUSAS, La. - Top Cat Boogie shot to the front at the start and did not look back in Saturday night’s $50,000 Rajun Cajun Stakes at Evangeline Downs, drawing out down the stretch to win by 8 3/4 lengths.

Odds-on favorite Look At the Time saw his chances compromised when he was squeezed back at the start and had to settle for second, a neck in front of Zip Motion, who was three lengths the best of Masculino.

Under Randall Toups, Top Cat Boogie stepped through fractions of 22.21 and 44.42 in the seven-furlong headliner for 3-year-old Louisiana-breds and stopped the timer in 1:22.97 over a fast track.

Top Cat Boogie ($18.80) won for the fourth time in nine starts and for the third time in stakes company. Trained by Alan Klanfer, hhas now earned just over $163,000.
