Evangeline: She’s Prado’s Idol gets job done in Acadiana Stakes

Email

OPELOUSAS, La. - She’s Prado’s Idol worked hard to live up to her billing as the 9-5 favorite in Friday night’s $50,000 Acadiana Stakes at Evangeline Downs, outfinishing 6-1 outsider Midge Four after a protracted stretch duel to prevail by three-quarters of a length.

Little Miss Protocol, who combined with entrymate and early pacesetter Coteau’s Kitten as the close second choice at 1.90-1, finished a non-threatening third, 3 3/4 lengths farther back.

Ridden by Tracy Hebert, She’s Prado’s Idol ($5.60) stalked the early pace while saving ground in the seven-furlong headliner for 3-year-old Louisiana-bred fillies before making her move into the far turn. Trained by Garland Goins, She's Prado's Idol stopped the timer in 1:23.97 over a fast track and won for the fifth time in eight starts. The daughter of Screen Idol has earned just under $160,000.
