Evangeline Downs track report

LAFAYETTE, La. - When the connections of 25-time winner Hallowed Dreams chose the Valid Expectations Stakes at Lone Star last Monday for her comeback after a 3 1/2-month layoff a potentially small field for Saturday night's Tellike Handicap swelled considerably. The $30,000, six-furlong sprint lured a dozen fillies and mares through the entry box on Thursday.

Heading the group is Raymond's Dream. A winner of two of her three starts this year, Raymond's Dream last raced at Delta Downs on April 6, when she captured the 6 1/2-furlong Magnolia Stakes. Trained by Chad Hassenpflug, she has won six of her 11 career outings, making starts at five different tracks, including here at Evangeline, where she proved victorious in nonwinners-of-two allowance company as a 3-year-old last season.

Raymond's Dream has been training well at Hassenpflug's Delta Downs home base in preparation for her first start in almost two months. Steve Bourque, aboard for her last three victories, once again has the call at 119 pounds.

Raymond's Dream's strongest challenge may come from Red Marie, a winner in allowance company here on April 13. Left in her wake that evening was Prized Amberpro, who pulled off the upset in the Valid Expectations, beating not only Hallowed Dreams but also stakes winners Southern Tour and Spanish Glitter. Trainer Robert Adams will give veteran C.J. Woodley the leg up on the second highweight at 117 pounds.
