Email

OPELOUSAS, La – Solid Sender improved her career record to 3 for 3 Saturday night as she captured the fillies’ division of the $50,000 John Franks Memorial Sales Stakes at Evangeline Downs. Sweet Alice Benbow finished 2 1/4 lengths back in second and six lengths in front of Streaming Live in third.

Trained by Sam Breaux and once again ridden by Gerard Melancon, Solid Sender ($2.40) completed a lucrative summer campaign that also saw her win the six-figure D. S. "Shine" Young Futurity in July. The daughter of Early Flyer covered the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.79. She has earned more than $116,000.

In the males’ division of the Franks, Montbrooks Miracle took control just after the start and drew off for a 2 1/2-length victory. Risky Forest reported home second, with Stay Friendly finishing third in the closing-night co-feature.

Montbrooks Miracle ($6.80) was ridden by Kerwin Clark for trainer Ray Sibille and won for the first time in two starts after a troubled maiden debut last month. He is a son of Montbrook who brought $27,000 at the Franks sale in March. The final time was 1:05.32.
