Evangeline Downs: Sittin At the Bar rallies to win Acadiana

OPELOUSAS, La. - Sittin At the Bar settled comfortably off the pace before rallying four wide out of the turn under Mark Guidry to capture Friday night’s $50,000 Acadiana Stakes for Louisiana-bred 3-year-old fillies at Evangeline Downs.

Ante Up Annie, also content to sit off the early pace, was trapped in traffic turning for home before swinging out for room, causing longshot Coin Toss to steady, before unleashing a late run that saw her getting to the winner late. The incident in upper stretch resulted in Ante Up Annie being disqualified by the Evangeline stewards and placed behind Coin Toss in fifth position. Miss Goodthing, who made a late run while widest of all, had her number put up to second, followed by Tactical Gift.

Brett Brinkman trains Sittin At the Bar ($4.40) for Dale Ladner. The daughter of Into Mischief covered the seven furlongs in 1:23.13 over a fast strip and has now won 5 of her 10 starts. The victory was her fourth stakes tally and increased her career bankroll to over $312,000.
