Evangeline Downs: Ol Time Preacher Man by a nose in LQHBA Breeders Futurity

Email

Ol Time Preacher Man won an extraordinarily tight photo over First Prize Jet in Saturday night’s $1 million LQHBA Breeders Futurity at Evangeline Downs. The 400-yard race was the richest offering in Louisiana for Quarter Horses.

Ol Time Preacher Man ($15.40) and 35-1 shot First Prize Jet broke from the widest posts Saturday while some of the horses in inside posts broke in a tangle and shut off Fjr Bread N Butter. Ol Time Preacher Man and First Prize Jet, meanwhile, ran together throughout, with the former edging his rival by a nose.

Ol Time Preacher Man covered the distance on a fast track in 19.71 seconds. Danny Lavergne rode the winner for T M Ranch and trainer Kenneth Roberts.

Ol Time Preacher Man won his first stakes in the Breeders Futurity. The start was two races removed from his runner-up finish in the LQHBA Futurity at Fair Grounds, a $286,000 race in which he missed by a neck. For the win at Evangeline, Ol Time Preacher Man earned $445,000.

Ol Time Preacher is a son of Heza Fast Dash and was bred in Louisiana by Jo Baya Foreman.
