Evangeline Downs: My Parade rallies

Evangeline Downs
My Parade rallies to win Monday night's Lafayette Stakes at Evangeline Downs.

CARENCRO, La. - My Parade rallied from last to first to win Monday night's Lafayette Stakes. Favored Favorite Minit, caught up in blistering fractions early, salted away the other speed but was unable hold off the winner and had to settle for second followed by J. D.'s Blue Bayou.

Filemon Rodriguez was in no hurry early on board My Parade ($12.00) as the early leaders carved out fractions of :21.40 and :44.80. Beginning to move late in the turn, he strongly split rivals nearing midstretch before angling out to kick down the winner in 1:12.00 for the six furlongs over a fast strip.

The winner is trained by Eddie Milligan for Simmons and Associates and won for the second time in four career outs and successfully turned back from a two turn maiden win in his previous start at Louisiana Downs. He earned $45,000 for his winning connections and has now banked over $63,000.

Also on the closing day program was the $362,000 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Sales Futurity. Jackie Martin booted home Jess a Feature to win the richest race ever run at this oval.
