Evangeline: Bleu Darling rallies strongly to capture Hallowed Dreams


Unleashing a furious rally down the lane, Bleu Darling ran down pacesetter Wire Me Bessie in the final strides to capture the $50,000 Hallowed Dreams Stakes on Saturday night at Evangeline Downs.

Izzie’s Gold altered course for room in midstretch and was along for third while Coteau Kitten reported home fourth.

Patiently handled by C. J. McMahon in the early going while Wire Me Bessie was carving out fractions of 22.14 and 45.59 seconds, Bleu Darling got on stride while five wide exiting the turn of the 5 1/2-furlong race  for 3-year-old fillies and flew home to win by a length. A daughter of Saint Anddan, Bleu Darling covered the distance in 1:04.54.

Trained by Ron Faucheux for Brittlyn Stables, Blue Darling ($8.80) won for the third time in seven starts and picked up her first stakes win.
