Europe: O'Brien horses dominate

Rock of Gibraltar led a sweep of the first three places for Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle yard in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Rock of Gibralter, an easy winner of the Group 1 Grand Criterium two weeks ago, had to fight hard, however, to get past stablemates Landseer and Tendulkar, taking their measure by just a short head and a head.

Nayef's three-quarter length victory over Tobougg in the 1 1/4-mile Group 1 Champion Stakes vindicated trainer Marcus Tregoning's faith in the 3-year-old. Nayef, who was sent off as the 3-1 favorite, has now won three in a row following a disappointing spring, but Tregoning now fears that he will lose the Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned colt. As an ace 10-furlong horse by Gulch, Godolphin Racing could recruit Nayef for the Dubai World Cup.
