Europe: Dalakhani wins, eyes Arc

Dalakhani emerged from victory in Sunday's Prix Niel victory at Longchamp as the 7-4 favorite for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Dalakhani turned back the challenge of Doyen to win the Group 2 race by 1 1/2 lengths, running the 1 1/2 miles in 2:27.60 on good to soft ground.

* Ange Gabriel made it six of his last seven with a handy 2 1/2-length score in the Group 2 Prix Foy. The Eric Libaud trainee had little trouble disposing of Martaline and two other foes in a clocking of 2:28.60 for the 1 1/2 miles.

* Mezzo Soprano, a full sister to Rahy, finally lived up to her tall reputation with a hard-fought nose victory over Irish 1000 Guineas winner and English Oaks runner-up Yesterday in the Group 1 Prix Vermeille for 3-year-old fillies.

* At The Curragh, trainer Aidan O'Brien was very pleased with the one-length victory of One Cool Cat over Wathab in the Group 1 National Stakes.
