John Phillips’s Darby Dan Farm in Lexington, Ky., has hired Robert Hammond as its general manager. Hammond most recently was the stallion manager and bloodstock director at Ken Troutt’s WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky. Hammond, a native of England, also has been a trainer, farm owner, consignor, and bloodstock agent both in the U.S. and Britain. . . . Grade 1-winning millionaire Gayego will enter stud next year at Canada’s Norse Ridge Farm, where he will stand for $6,500 in Canadian funds. A 6-year-old Gilded Time horse, Gayego is a multiple track-record-setter who won the 2009 Ancient Title Stakes and four other stakes, and earned more than $1.7 million. He is out of the Lost Code winner Devils Lake and is a half-brother to multiple stakes-placed Marquee Event. . . . Track-record-setting Grade 3 winner Niagara Causeway will relocate within Kentucky from Buck Pond Farm to Margeaux Farm for the 2012 breeding season, but he will retain his 2011 fee of $3,000 for the coming year. An 8-year-old Giant’s Causeway horse, Niagara Causeway is out of Irish champion and two-time Grade 1-placed Theoretically, by Theatrical. His first foals will be juveniles in 2012.
