Jockey Dean Sarvis, who was thrown from his mount in the second race Saturday at River Downs, sustained two hairline fractures on his left shoulder blade, according to his agent, Jim McNerny. Sarvis is expected to be out six weeks. . . . James "Jack" Phillips, a longtime Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred trainer, died April 11 at age 86 at his home in Raton, N.M. Phillips trained several champion Quarter Horses and started Thoroughbred horses at tracks across the country before retiring from training in 1984 and serving as a clocker and clerk of scales at The Downs in Albuquerque.
