Etc. . . .

This year's English 2000 Guineas winner, Footstepsinthesand, will stand in 2006 at Coolmore headquarters in Ireland instead of at the stallion operation's Kentucky facility, Ashford Stud, as previously announced. Coolmore manager Christy Grassick told the Racing Post that English and Irish demand for the first-season stallion, a son of Giant's Causeway, prompted the change, and he will now stand in Ireland for 25,000 euros, or about $29,500. . . . Winds up to 50 mph caused Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M., to cancel the final nine of 11 scheduled races Sunday. The $75,000 Zia Park Express, the canceled feature, will be brought back on Sunday, Dec. 4, closing day of the inaugural meet at Zia.
