A charity auction held Friday by Fasig-Tipton for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association Charities New York Heroes Fund raised $272,650, the NTRA said Tuesday. The highest bid was $125,000 for a season to Point Given, the retired winner of the 2001 Preakness, Belmont, and Travers stakes. . . . Delta Downs in Vinton, La., which is undergoing $30 million in improvements under new owner Boyd Gaming, will hold exhibition schooling races Thursday night to test operations at the track. Curran, The Jockey Club's director of special communications services since 1998, will partially fill a position vacated earlier this year, when former Jockey Club spokesman Jim Peden retired.
