Woodbine was forced to cancel its ninth and final race Wednesday evening when both the main horse ambulance and the backup horse ambulance failed to start. . . . Shaconage, the 5-year-old mare who won two Grade 3 turf stakes at the 2004 Churchill Downs spring meet, has been retired with a tendon injury. Bred and owned by Andrena Van Doren, and trained throughout her 29-race career by Mitch Shirota, Shaconage won six times and earned $534,051.
