Etc. . . .

Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky., will host a stallion show on Saturday, Nov. 5, to showcase its stallion roster for 2006. The show, slated to start at 12:15 p.m., will promote Lane's End stallions such as A. P. Indy and Kingmambo - who will be joined by Saint Liam next year - as well as Mineshaft, Came Home, Dixie Union and Dixieland Band. . . . Two bills affecting the horse industry have been introduced in the U.S. House and Senate. One, which would make permanent a one-year ban on the slaughter of horses for human consumption passed earlier this year by both houses, was introduced in the Senate on Monday, while the other, to reduce the capital gains holding period for horses from 24 months to 12 months, was introduced in the House.
