Ticket applications for this year's Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, to be run Saturday, Oct. 29, at Belmont Park, are now available. Forms, which may be obtained by mail from Breeders' Cup Tickets, P.O. Box 90, Jamaica, N.Y., 11417, or at at www.nyra.com, must be returned by July 20. . . . Beginning Friday, Arlington Park will lower its minimum trifecta wager to 50 cents. Track management cited positive bettor response to 10-cent superfecta wagering as a factor in reducing the trifecta minimum. . . . Jambalaya Jazz, a dual Grade 3 winner and sire, was killed by lightning Monday while turned out at Nuckols Farm in Midway, Ky., where he stood for $3,500 this season. Jambalaya Jazz (Dixieland Band-Glorious Morning, by Graustark), who was 13, is the sire of stakes winners Kaylan's Rose, Gumbo Love, and Jazzy J J. . . . A $62,000 Richter Scale colt out of the Grey Dawn II mare Fifth Force topped Tuesday's Barretts summer 2-year-olds and racing-age sale in Pomona, Calif. The Berkey Bloodstock agency bought the colt from Mary Knight, agent. Overall, the single-session auction sold 107 lots for $1,164,300, down 7 percent from last year, when 93 head sold. The average price was $10,881, down 19 percent, and the median was $6,500, also down 19 percent.
