Hurricane Run established himself as the favorite for the June 5 French Derby with a five-length victory over Silver Cross in the Group 2, $154,000 Prix Hocquart at Longchamp on Monday. Hurricane Run (2-1), now unbeaten after three starts, was timed in 2:18.50 for the 1 3/8 miles on good ground. . . . Rhein Kraft followed up her Japanese 1000 Guineas victory with a victory in the Grade 1, $1.71 million NHK Mile Cup at Tokyo on Sunday. In her first try against colts, the End Sweep filly defeated Daring Heart, the only other female in the 18-strong field, by 1 3/4 lengths, getting the mile on firm ground in 1:33.60 as the 5-2 second choice. . . . Jockey Tim Doocy rode five winners on Saturday's nine-race program at Prairie Meadows. Doocy began the evening in fourth in the rider standings, four wins behind Cindy Noll but moved to the lead with the five winners, which included Premium Saltine in the feature event, the $50,000 Prairie Express. . . . Fairmount Park's leading jockey, Ramsey Zimmerman, was out of action all weekend after sustaining a slight concussion during a training spill last week. He was expected to be back racing Tuesday afternoon, said his agent, Mark Cooper.
