Shareholders of MI Developments rejected a plan by a major stakeholder in the company to divest the company's shares in the racetrack company Magna Entertainment at a meeting on Wednesday. According to MI Developments, the proposal was rejected by 91.3 percent of the voting shares. . . A private memorial service for Ted Atkinson, the Hall of Fame jockey who died on Thursday, will be held this week in Virginia. A public service will be held in New York later this year. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Atkinson's name to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, 450 Shrewsbury Plaza, Shrewsbury, N.J., 07702. . . . Veterinarian Stephen Day, who was suspended by Turf Paradise stewards for 60 days and fined $500 for administering Lasix to a horse too close to race, was granted an injunction Tuesday that allows him to continue practicing until his appeal process is done. Vann Belvoir, the trainer of the horse, Stone King, was also fined $300 for the April 24 incident.
