Jon Olivares, who trained on the Florida circuit for three decades, died Sunday at 64 following a long illness. Olivares, who retired from the business two years ago, is the brother of trainer Luis Olivares and former rider Jose Olivares. . . . The Tattersalls October yearling sale in Newmarket, England, wrapped up Saturday evening with a record $718,200 sale-topper, a Danehill-Mythical Creek (Pleasant Tap) filly that agent Charlie Gordon-Watson bought from Ballygallon Stud. Overall, the five-day auction sold 749 lots, down from 776 last year, for gross revenue of $38,849,049, a decline of 19 percent; the five-day average fell 16 percent to $51,867, and the median price dropped 19 percent to $31,311.
